Resolved Question: purchased a home with permit violations i wasent aware of?
i was visited by two city inspectors yesters letting me know that we were in building violations in my newly bought home. some of the things one of the inspectors mention were that some of the windows needed to be changed,smoke detector need to be installed..they mentioned that they had come twice during the renovation process,one time even during the week we had closed escrow! and spoke to (the seller) and that he was fully aware of these issues..never did he mention any of these issues with us..at this point i feel this is considered fraud..
now the property was sold as is
what is worrying me is that my now family room didnt even have a permit,the inspector told me it use to be a patio! i wasent aware of any addition made to the home..
i do remember my lender asking me to make a letter for escrow purposes stating that the seller should have 30 days to fix anything that needed to be finished as well as resolve any problems relating with permits and such..my question is what can i do? i have called my real estate agent whom is also representing the seller, i have called the seller and they are aware of this..legally what could i do..would they make me tear my family room and how can i protect myself…

Voting Question: Does a housing inspector have to internally inspect a new property before they can declare it officially?
I was just wondering; I lived in a flat in a house, where the house had not been declared to the council as two flats. The council eventually declared it as a flat with no internal inspection… is this legal?

Resolved Question: What are the limits of the landlords rights?
After the landlord inform us in the house (7 of us) the Inspector for apraisng the home, possibly for refinancing, he asked that we leave the doors un locked to our rooms for easy access. 24 hr notice was respected however our privicies were not. The bed I sleep in was left unmade on purpose , the dude made it. And the following day I found one of my blouses that was left on the floor in my room under the kitchen cabinet sink. The other male tenates were to find that their personal affects had been rearranged as well. Doesn’t this constitute invasion of personal space THAT WE RENT? We are trusting of one another in this place but aren’t comfortable with the messing of the property that we own. How do we deal with this kind of crap? Can we take action or just have to be positively sure not to leave without locking everything up so as not to be violated?
The idiot who answered this question with PIG STY remark didn’t get the point! The landlord has no right to touch ANYTHING of my personal effects, !!REGARDLESS!!. The fact is the room was as it always is, neat tidy and clean! So BUZZ OFF
