As a homebuyer you know to have your home inspected by a licensed inspector. A good inspector will check everything from heat and air to specific electrical plugs. … A minor leak on a window frame can seem innocuous, but with repeated rains that leak can turn into window rot and even mold. Again, this is where preparedness in budgeting can make all the difference—the ability to correct a minor problem immediately will likely mean a lower-cost repair and a less-demanding … read more…

Voting Question: I am living in a condemned apt.?
I told my landlord all the things that are a issue. I even got the city codes health inspector to come in. HE said we all need to move out asap. My problem is my bf and i cant come up with 300+ dollars in a short time. My dad told me there was a law to make my landlord help pay for the first months rent on a new place because my living place now is not liveable. I’m finding laws on other things but not this in general does anyone know anything bout this? Or where to look.
Our apartment is one of 3 in a house. Upstairs leaks into the one because me so the ceiling fell in on it. the wall in the bathroom upstairs u can push on it and go threw it. there is open wires up there. basement has so much mold and slugs the the pilot light has to be relite often. The apartment i am in now, the sink leaks like none other so much mold and she wont fix it my bf is allergic to it.. it wasnt like that when we moved in…the stove doesnt work right but we learned now to control it to get by. the outlets in some places are broke and wont hold anything at all. U can set something in it and it will fall out on its own in secs. I learned she is being mean and rude to other tenants of hers as well ppl that been with her for years.
I just want to know if there is and where the law is to help me pay my first months emergency rent deal since we have to all leave asap.
Resolved Question: Is the landlord responsible or am i?
I must have left the faucet dripping last night without noticing. Downstairs neighbor came up and knocked on door and showed me lots of fresh sheet rock damage and we went back up to my place and the downstairs sink in the half bath had a small stream of water from the faucet. That wasn’t the problem though, it was a faulty seal or something in the s shaped pipe under the sink. But my leaving the water running accidentally may have been a catalyst, even though there was mold and mildew around the pipe which suggests this is not a new issue. I just moved in 2 weeks ago btw. Looking back in my lease agreement, i noticed this is one of the clauses i agreed to:
“13. Tenant Acceptance. Tenant has fully examined and inspected the Premises and the Community, and Tenant has accepted same “as is” in their existing condition, without representation or warranty, express or implied, in fact or by law. In no event shall Landlord be liable for any defect in the Premises or the Community, or any limitation on any use thereof. Tenant acknowledges the leased premises and the fixtures contained therein, shall be deemed to be operable and in good repair, clean and acceptable, unless otherwise reported, in writing, to Landlord within 48 hours of the commencement of the lease term.”
I had no idea that i should look for problems like a leak. I’m assuming that the landlord should periodically have an inspector or someone come by to make sure things like this don’t happen. Would this make me legally responsible for the damage or would the landlord be responsible because its an issue that doesn’t make itself obvious up front?
Resolved Question: How do I make a complaint toward an unsanitary grocery store?
I was working for an unsanitary grocery store and watched my bosses sell customers moldy and old food passing it off as fresh and high quality. Many times, people would be receiving month old cakes that had mold scraped off of it, cold cuts that were extremely old, and rotten fruits and vegetables. My job fired me but for that, I am glad because I hated working there around the disgusting food. Now that I don’t work there, how do I make a complaint to a health department or health inspector of some sort? I am genuinely concerned about people’s health, this store should not stay open.
Any websites/phone numbers would be great
