Open Question: Are there any free for home owners Building Inspection Training Courses?
For home owners… do you think its worth paying to attend such courses?
Open Question: the private inspector for the new house (during the contruction)?
My new house contruction is under the way.
This is my first time to build a new house. My friends told me that I have to hire a private to do the inspections at least three times during the different contruction stages:
1) as soon as the foundation is done;
2) just before the brick start;
3) before closing.
Would you please give me some advice about it. Any related information are welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Open Question: Is this a problem that should prevent me from buying this house?
I am in the preliminary stages of buying my first house. I contacted a realtor and she has begun doing research on a specific house for which I am interested. She forwarded me the “Property Condition Disclosure Statement.” On it, the seller discloses that there is a “very slight bow in the basement wall.” It has been there since 1977, when he first bought the house, and he claims that the bow hasn’t gotten worse in the 30+ years he’s been in the house. The house was built in 1945 and is outside Buffalo, NY (winter climate). Is this a serious problem, or is it not a big deal since it has remained unchanged for so long? I still plan on an inspection, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this problem.
