Resolved Question: PLEASE ANSWER! my 11-15 oyster was confiscated and the appeal people won’t reply, who should i mail then?
Dear Sir / Madame
I would like to talk to you about my daughter’s oyster card queries.
TFL has refused to give her free travel concession because of an incident back in 2008 when she lost it.
You could say that it was lost but someone else found it. Then, after a few days, my daughter got over the fear of telling me the truth meaning, like every child would – she was afraid of what I would say to her, what my reactions would be. I understand that these thoughts and questions run all over everyone’s mind. This caused a bit of a delay when applying for a new one because shortly, after hearing my daughter had lost her card I applied for a new oyster by calling TFL and they sent me another one with free travel concession.
There onwards, things went horribly wrong and confusing. As, everything was fine, we didn’t have any problems with her oyster card until in 2009 – she lost it – from then, I called the TFL asking for a new oyster card for my daughter but to my surprise, they refused to – they asked me if my daughter had her oyster card taken away by the police or inspectors all of a sudden and I told them that she hadn’t misbehaved or showed any anti-social behaviour and they requested that I should “appeal”, so I did. But, after a day or two they sent me a letter saying that my appeal had not been successful as we had been warned to appeal back in 2008.
I then replied to their letter, telling them that since we hadn’t received that warning letter in the first place we could not appeal at the right time but, they never replied back.
So, it was all down to this appeal letter – that was when I realised that when my daughter lost her oyster card – we were about to move to a different place. We are not sure as it could be in our old home where someone else lives now but they weren’t very helpful as they did not tell us we had received any letters but TFL could also have done us a favour and gave us a ring to make it clear as they could’ve seen the possibilities that we could’ve moved, or the letter could’ve been delayed in the post or even lost. All, I want to say is that if I had received the letter from TFL telling us to appeal, I would’ve done so at the right time like I am doing so now.
If you are still not convinced, please – think about my daughter. She isn’t the kind of person who wants to hurt or bully others; she is someone who wouldn’t hurt a fly.
There may be laws and rules that are stronger than apologies but forgiveness couldn’t hurt a bit could it?
I would like to ask you sincerely to forgive her and provide her with free travel concession but not just because it might save my money or anything - she has cried her heart out telling me how her friends are travelling to places like Camden Town or China town or even London Bridge by bus for free while she has to pay up and another thing is that, she doesn’t like to spend my or my wife’s money as she understands that it is hard-worked money because since I am a security guard and my wife is a house keeper, she knows – my feet will ache after standing all day and my wife will get back pain from cleaning every corner, room after room and one last thing she knows is that since I am suffering from high blood pressure she doesn’t want to stress me anymore and so, she deals with this oyster card matter too by calling up the photo card customer service, e-mailing them too but she is usually heart broken when they don’t understand her and gives her the wrong information like once when she called the TFL herself, she was told to ask for the “discount rate” in the tube station and so she did but it didn’t work out – she was heart-broken when she came back home without free travel and another day she asked a lady that worked in the tube station who told my daughter that she had to go to the post office and apply for another one and so she did and got a 50% child’s oyster card instead, she was left depressed for quite some time after that. She hates the fact that she has got a half percent card because she says she fell like an outcast. She also celebrated her birthday on August 1st and she announced that she wished she had her free travel concession back and she wishes for it every other day too.
“I have also recently heard about the scheme “ Earn your travel back “ and would like to ask if I could enrol my daughter into this scheme and if she is eligible to. “We do have to take Zip cards away from those who behave badly on buses, but we should not just write those kids off. “ – this quote said by Boris Johnson also clearly states that you should just write my daughter away and say she’ll never ever receive her free travel again and break her heart – please note that my daughter can do anything to join this volunteering even if it’s about getting her hands dirty.
this is the letter i sent but i never got a reply, why?? is there any other option, can i mail any other address that can hear me out ?
oh and that was written by my dad

Resolved Question: Will the 12th Imam cause war with Iran?

Not since the prime minister of the tiny Caribbean island of Grenada presented an address claiming that UFOs posed a mortal threat to the future of mankind has the United Nations been treated to such a bizarre spectacle.
Many people believe the greatest threat to world peace concerns Iran’s nuclear programme, so there was understandably great interest at this week’s general assembly in New York when the country’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, took the platform.
But instead of seeking to reassure delegates that Iran’s nuclear intentions were purely benign, Mr Ahmadinejad took advantage of his official visit to a country deemed – in the lexicon of the Iranian Revolution – “the Great Satan” to embark on a discourse about the wonders of the 12th Imam.
For those unacquainted with the more obscure tenets of Islamic theology, the 12th Imam is held by devout Shi’ite Muslims to be a direct descendant of the Prophet Mohammed who went into “occlusion” in the ninth century at the age of five and hasn’t been seen since.
The Hidden Imam, as he is also known by his followers, will only return after a period of cosmic chaos, war and bloodshed – what Christians call the Apocalypse – and then lead the world into an era of universal peace.
Rumours abound of Mr Ahmadinejad’s devotion to the 12th Imam, and last year it was reported that he had persuaded his cabinet to sign a “contract” pledging themselves to work for his return.
Another example of his messianic tendencies surfaced after 108 people were killed in an aircraft crash in Teheran. Mr Ahmadinejad praised the victims, saying: “What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow.”
For many of the hundreds of delegates who attended Mr Ahmadinejad’s speech to the UN this week, his discourse on the merits of the 12th Imam finally brought home the reality of the danger his regime poses to world peace.
Rather than allaying concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Mr Ahmadinejad spoke at length about how a Muslim saviour would relieve the world’s suffering.
The era of Western predominance was drawing to a close, he said, and would soon be replaced by a “bright future” ushered in by the 12th Imam’s return. “Without any doubt, the Promised One, who is the ultimate Saviour, will come. The pleasing aroma of justice will permeate the whole world.”
The really alarming aspect is that – if the world’s leading intelligence agencies are to be believed – he is seriously attempting to acquire a nuclear weapons arsenal.
Only yesterday, the opposition group that first revealed the existence of Iran’s uranium enrichment facility at Natanz claimed that Iran was building a new bomb-proof underground site for developing nuclear weapons.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said the regime was near to completing a vast underground chamber that was linked by two tunnels to the existing complex at Natanz, and was protected against aerial attack.
As with so many of the allegations relating to Iran’s nuclear activities, the NCRI’s claims are impossible to verify, not least because Iran continues to impede UN nuclear inspectors.
And even if, as Mr Ahmadinejad claimed in New York, Iran has no interest in developing nuclear weapons, there is every indication that Teheran is preparing itself for war, not least because the clash with Western civilisation that the Iranian president so obviously desires will hasten, or so he believes, the arrival of the 12th Imam.
Before flying to the US, Mr Ahmadinejad addressed a military parade in Teheran at which he said Iran would retaliate with missile strikes against Western targets in the event of the West launching air strikes to neutralise Iran’s nuclear aspirations.
Recent changes to the regime’s hierarchy also suggest that the country is now being put on a war footing in anticipation of Western military action. The most significant appointment is that of Mohammed Ali Jaafari as the new head of the Revolutionary Guards.
Mr Ahmadinejad – a former Revolutionary Guards commander – regards the 200,000-strong organisation as the storm troops of the Islamic Revolution and, by appointing Mr Jaafari its new commander this month, he is giving the guards primary responsibility for protecting the country against attack.
Major-General Rahim Safavi, the previous commander, was hardly a soft touch, having masterminded the capture and subsequent release of 15 British service personnel this year.
Mr Safavi, who commanded the guards for 10 years, is understood to have fallen out with Mr Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s spiritual leader, after he argued that the guards were too weak to repel an attack from abroad.
Mr Safavi was also criticised within the regime for failing to establish effective supply lines between Teheran and

Resolved Question: House repairs- how to go about?
My friend would like to get repairs on her home which is in dire need. Her divorce settlement states her ex is responsible for 1/2 of all repairs until the house is paid off. What would be the best way to get an estimate of what needs to be done? Should she get a home inspector to come out and list all repairs and then get estimates from each individual repair service?
