Resolved Question: Sold my home; Realtor Calling Saying Lawm Pump doesn’t work?
I recently sold my home, short sale. Prior to selling to current buyer, I was told that the lawn pump was damage and that VA would not approve the deal unless I had it fixed. On inspection, I found that someone had completely broken the pipes to the lawn pump. I had a handy man go out and fix the pipes to the pump. When I moved out of the house in January 09, there was no problem with the pump. After having the pump pipes fixed, the sale went through. Now “my” real estate agent is calling me stating that the owner’s want the name of the person that fixed the pump, because it’s not working. The man hooked the pipes back up like they were suppose to be, I know, because I was there when he did it and I had to buy the supplies for him to do the job. I guess now that the electric has been turned on in the house, the new owners are saying the pumps not working. I told my agent, the owners should have a professional come out and look at it to see what the problem might be. I feel it’s out of my hand and that I shouldn’t be held responsible. I also think the pipes were broken by some vandels and that I fixed what was done… and requested. I don’t feel I should have to fix anything else and actually, when I fixed the pipes, I was told prior to that would loose the deal if I didn’t. I had fixed, what I say broken. I don’t feel I’m responsible now that the pump don’t work. I didn’t hide any disclosures either. When the new owner’s turned on the electric and the garage door don’t work… am I to fix that too, if the stove goes out in 2 days, am I to fix that too? None of this happened mine you, I’m just asking, when does my responsibility end. Besides, I’ve been out of that house for about 8 months. My agent stated to me that if I don’t give the name of the man who fixed the pump, the new owner’s could cause a problem for all of us. Anyway, I gave him the name, of whom they want be able to find him, because I can’t find him either. Point is, do I have to fix the pump and/or install a new pump? I’m in Florida, the house is in a nice neightbor hood.
To David Z. Sorry for the “long” question, actually I was just giving some details of the transaction, to see if I was liable in anyway and I did summarize the details with a question. Thank you all for your responses, I really appreciate it.
Voting Question: When will selfish mom retire?
Used to be Director of B. Devlpmt., Public Work Dept.
She retired at age 56.
Was remorseful that she never had time to know her children who are now young adults + adult with a kid
started working again 3 years later because she started quibbling with her husband
people under the same roof suspects that she started to feel insignificant next to her still-working husband.
Life was good as she started working again, making friends, and pointing out other people’s mistakes/weaknesses (completely for professional purposes, mind you)
Shame. Children needed her
1. 1st daughter who gave birth to a grandson had to look after herself. No one to babysit son not even ‘gramma’ who doesn’t even want to profess herself as ‘gramma’
2. 2nd daughter totally out of control trying to get her and husband’s attention by running away with penniless boyfriend, pilfering stuff from home (bedsheets, towels, chocolates from the fridge), buying expensive things
3. 3rd daughter slowly going out of track seeming like she would turn into 2nd daughter soon. seeking attention by being absolutely rude.
4. Youngest which is a son spends a lot of money on a car that he got when he was a bit too young to own any. Now basically digging little holes in her husband’s pocket, which might influence 3rd daughter in the future
husband is a goofball on the outside but upon closer inspection is a downright selfish professional who keeps pride in practising traditionalism.
by the way, the husband is a big show off who is the opposite of traditionalism.
NOW
can anyone tell me if this is a messed up story or
not at all?
Resolved Question: What can be done to hold a seller responsible for tampering with a professional radon test in Indiana?
I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana and am looking to buy a home. I had the home I have made an offer on tested for radon and the test came back at 4.7, which is above the EPA guideline of 4 so I requested that the seller install a radon mitigation system before I purchase.
Through the realtor (Charles Lents of Re/Max realty) I’m told the seller declared that he would conduct his own radon test with the crawlspace vents open to determine if this is needed. I’ve told the realtor that such a test is not valid, a radon test should be conducted on a home with closed vents to simulate winter conditions when radon is most problematic. The realtor told me that the test was being conducted yesterday through this Saturday. I stopped by to see if the vents were open… not only were they open but FANS were put into the openings blowing air out. I documented the blowing with a digital camera video of a napkin blowing in the wind from the vents with the clear audio of the fans and have 2 witnesses to this fact.
So now that I have proof that the seller and possibly the real estate agent are going so far out of their way to lie and cheat me I won’t be buying the house… but frankly I’m mad! Is there any way to catch these two in their web of bulls**t and either get my inspection money back, get them in trouble, or get some measure of justice? Payback would be an acceptable substitute for justice.
No, I wouldn’t ask for my money back from the inspectors. The inspectors have done an admirable job. I would ask for the inspection money back from the sellers now that the deal will no go through; for attempting to defraud me ultimately wasting my time and my money with their unconscionable behavior.
If I could go back to being at the exact financial state I was before I ever met these crooks I would be happy.
