Open Question: Please answer, do you think my family will lose our house?
Please read the whole thing, I need to know how we can get out of this mess… I’m sorry if I am being annoying. :( Long story short, we bought a house from a mortgage company, but the house they gave us is damaged. There are loads and loads of flaws, maybe around half of them are fixed. They didn’t install the roof and ridgevent right, and we ended up having mold in the house, which I am highly allergic to. I was sick for half the school year because of it. Now I have developed asthma. (the past house we lived in had mold in it too. but anyway :( ) We finally have it fixed and installed right. We had to have the roof ripped off and have a mold inspection crew come and crap, but at least there’s no more mold and we still have a decent roof over our heads, literally. We have an attorney, but she’s keeping us in the dark and I feel like my parents aren’t getting anywhere with her. The guy who sold us the house is blaming us for all of our problems, he said it was our fault the mold came along. He’s shovinist, so he’s been really rude to my mom, and it’s getting to the point where she might need to have a restraining order. We couldn’t get a mortgage because the house was damaged and whatnot. I think I’m leaving some stuff out but please ask for more details and I will put them in for you. The house is located on my mom’s own property. The land was given to her by my grandmother.

I’m afraid that we might lose the house from foreclosure or something, please help, and what do you suggest that we do? :(
Again, please ask for more details if I’m leaving anything out. Sorry for the sloppy grammar, I’m just really upset right now.
By the way, I’m in Maine.

Open Question: Mold In Home A/C Air Handler?
My wife and I purchased this used house about a month ago. Before the purchase the home inspector alerted me to a leak had been repaired hours before his inspection. The repair was at the elbow of a drainpipe coming from the bottom of the air handler, going through the crawl space, and exiting into an adjoining wall. After moving into the home, I began to smell a damp smell coming through the air duct when the air conditioner was in operation. In addition, all three of us have quite sensitive noses and began to show signs that something was amiss,. I began to inspect, looked into the crawl space and found no evidence of a current leak but there was a lot of dust, dead cockroaches, and a similar damp smell. I also took the panels off the air handler and noticed mold all over a motor, which I suspect, is the blower and one side of the evaporation coils. Since this is a 3-ton system (the a/c is a fifteen year old Ruud and the air handler is an old Tempstar) in a roughly 2,100 sq/ft home in Mississippi, I was seriously considering replacing this system in a couple months. The system is cooling but does not cycle as often as I think it should. I have been all over YAHOO! asking questions so I know many of you are tired of reading my posts. I had planned to order a system from an online company called Alpine and getting a contractor to install it. Now I am assuming that my air conditioning ducts may need cleaning too and it may be more prudent to pay retail with a local company that not only installs systems but also cleans air ducts. In an effort to improve the air quality a bit, I was thinking about getting a mask, shop vacuum, gloves, bleach and water solution, sponge, and evaporator coil cleaner and cleaning the coils, blower, and crawlspace until we are ready to replace the system. Am I correct in my assumptions can anyone give me prudent advice?

Open Question: Mold on my cactus - don’t want it to spread to other cacti!?
I have 4 different types of cacti planted in one pot that I got on a recent trip to Phoenix. I just noticed that one of the cacti is leaning over and after further inspection I realized that it looks like there is mold on the bottom of that plant. It is on my desk at work and the building tends to be very humid. What can I do to prevent the mold from spreading to the 3 other cacti? I think this one is beyond saving. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
