Open Question: Why have home video files I’ve stored on my computer reduced in playback resolution when I didn’t reduce them?
I haven’t edited or converted these files to any other video film type. I’ve just left them dormant on my computer for a few months, playing the occasional film and not editing these ones. I remember well playing these films back when I first transferred them to my computer, the hard disc saved files themselves, and they were in full 1080p H.D. resolution.

These files I had left in their original, raw format.

I tried playing some this evening on my computer. The resolution was evidently much less than it had been. So I tried playing the films in both QuickTime Player and ArcSoft Digital Theatre in case settings were the issue, but that wasn’t true.

QuickTime showed in the Movie Inspector box which gives the properties, the films were 720p resolution. I know QuickTime changes what it says the resolution is depending on how big the QT Player film box is open at. So I tried playing my most recent video films, not long transferred to the computer hard drive. QuickTime showed these films as 1080p films in the same size QT Player box as the old films which seem to have become 720p.

I changed to ArcSoft Total Media Extreme Digital Theatre. All of the old films which have just been lying there on my computer play back in 720p, and the film properties information shows them as 720p films. Again when I go immediately and run the quite newly taken films, the file information is given as 1080p resolution films, and the playback quality is that obviously too.

What is going on? Are there viruses which silently enter a machine and perform a conversion reduction in the same file format to lesser resolution. I’m talking about scores of video files I shot myself on my computer.

The difference visible between the original 1080p films and what I have found, reduced 720p films, is quite big.

Open Question: How to become a Home/Building Inspector?
I am looking into the career of possibly becoming a home/building inspector. I understand that there is training involved. I would like to be licensed and not just take a class. I have a BA degree in English. But, I am looking more into a career that has some type of license to it.

Anyone familiar with the process?

Resolved Question: License to be a Home Inspector?
My father has been doing “informal” home inspections for years. He is a contractor who has been working in homes for over 30 years now. He actually specializes in old homes (ie:heating/plumbing/ventilation/foundations) My question is: if he wants to become an official Home Inspector in Connecticut, is there any way to get around taking classes or being an intern? it seems the only other option is if you have held a license in another state which he hasn’t. Any suggestions??
