Resolved Question: Did we get ripped off?
We are first time home buyers. We have been having some trouble with it too! Okay, so about 3 weeks ago, we found a house we were interested in, we met with the realtor and the lender to make an offer, they told us to bring $1000 check for the earnest money and if we did not get the house because of the inspection, then we would get that $1000 back, they also told us that it was an OPTION to bring the $365, $15 we would not get back because it was for the credit report, but the $350 for the apprasial we would get back if we did not get the house bcause of the inspection. We had an option to either bring the $350 then or at closing. We decided to give it then. Well, We had problems with the inspection, we paid $300 for a full inspection, only we were able to get just half the inspection done, because the sellers did not have the water cut on at the promised time, therefore, the inspector was not able to do the full inspection. That was 2 weeks ago, everyday we were told the water we would be on. Well, we decided that we didnt want the house due to the inspection. Well, apparently the appraiser came out without our permission or knowing and appraised the house, we werent even getting! So, they say we are out our $350!? Can anyone tell me if they think we were ripped off and their advice on my situtation. Thanks
Resolved Question: How to get a good home inspection for a property ?
I have put an offer on a property and almost getting close to accepting my offer.
My next step is may be getting the home inspected.
I am working with a realtor who is working on my behalf, do I have to use a home inspector recommended by her ? Or is there anywhere I can find a very good home inspector who can do a good job and look at the property and give a in detail report.
