Open Question: Unsure what career path to chose? Police or lawyer?

Im doing a law degree in 1 year.
Do you think I should go on the police fast track to get to an inspector in 2 years or go on to be a lawyer?
Open Question: How to get a good home inspection for a property ?
I have put an offer on a property and almost getting close to accepting my offer.
My next step is may be getting the home inspected.
I am working with a realtor who is working on my behalf, do I have to use a home inspector recommended by her ? Or is there anywhere I can find a very good home inspector who can do a good job and look at the property and give a in detail report.

Open Question: what can you do when the civil inspector penalizes one and not others for the same violation?
I live in Virginia on the chesapeake water shed. I installed a paver patio. My neighbor installed railroad ties in his yard for erosion and raised the driveway in a non conforming way for the community. I get all of the run off from his yard. Another neighbor put a pipe under his driveway, and has been draining water into my yard. Both neighbors have done many improvements, without a permit and are causing damage to my property. I have had to spend close to 100,000 for repairs caused by my neighbors actions. The inspector is aware of all activities. Excess runoff of water has been reported by others. I lost all trees, sod, support beam, boat dock, and continue to sustain damage due to the neighbors actions. I try to restore damage, and put in a paver patio, and I get taken to the wetland board. The neighbors get no penalty for any of the construction they have done, and they have caused the damage to my home. I don’t understand this, as I usually don’t do any renovations because I was content. I am now paying for conveniences to others and also get penalized. Both neighbors have violated the building code of VA. What does one do when the local officials turn their head to the activities of some, but penalize another?
