Open Question: Has anyone experienced living in a rental that’s for sale to a new owner?
Our landlord passed away and his family is selling all his properties. The real estate agent has just viewed our 3 apartments and is putting the building up for sale now. My neighbors and I are very nervous about all this. We really don’t like the idea of all sorts of strangers entering our homes for who knows how long. It could take forever to sell anything with the economy like it is. We are in NJ and we do know that a 24 - 48 hour notice is required before bringing prospective buyers into our homes… but still…

I know that my neighbors are very nice and clean and take care of things like I do. I’m sure that they noticed during the visual inspection. We even keep the yard nice.

I’m just praying that the building will be sold with tenants included. I just dread having to move again, since I just got settled in. Any thoughts or ideas from those who went thru the same ordeal?

Resolved Question: Can you sue a previous homeowner for not disclosing damages or repairs that had been done?
I have lived in my house for 5 years in August 2009. I had an inspection done and it passed. There was a large crack in the exterior wall that had been repaired but they provided a report from a structural engineer that the foundation was ok. I have been having trouble with this side of my house since I moved in. The walls are cracking both inside and out. I have had two slab leaks. When remodeling the laundry they removed a wall and found plastic tubing all over in it that ran through the attic. Due to the vaulted ceiling the inspector may not have seen it when he inspected the attic. Anyhow, what it was was a slab leak repair. This was NOT disclosed in the Seller’s Disclosure agreement. Also when they took up the linoleum in the bathroom and when I had a serious ant problem I was told that there was evidence of termites and treatment had been done. This was also not disclosed. I was VERY picky when buying this house and thought I hired the best of the best. If I would have known that there had been a slab leak I would have possible not bought the home. The people who owned the home before me were the only owners. They had the home built for them so they were the only ones who could have had these repairs done. What can I do?

Voting Question: Cracks in the ceiling/brick home?
I have been reading a lot of comments regarding cracks in the ceiling. I always thought this was caused by foundation problems. I bought my home 7 years ago, it is an all brick home built in 1964 and during my home inspection I asked about the cracks, the inspector informed me that they we were caused by settling and not foundation issues. The cracks are in the kitchen, the middle of the house. I am now noticing some cracks above my exterior French doors. Is this a sign of foundation problems?
